Local Area
As legend would have it, the suburban area of Harold’s Cross received its name from a cross that was erected to identify the land of the Archbishop of Dublin and as a signal to the Harold family of Rathfarnham to stick to their side of the boundary.
Today we know Harold’s Cross to be a busy residential area peppered with cafes, bars and businesses and is one of Dublin’s most charming and underrated neighbourhoods. Nestled just south of the Grand Canal and a short distance from the city centre, this historic area offers a perfect blend of old-world character and modern vibrancy.
Neighboured closely by Kimmage, Terenure, Rathgar and Rathmines, the area is well served by public transport. Harold’s Cross presents an attractive place to live as it truly strikes the perfect balance between urban convenience and suburban tranquillity.
